Greetings!

My name is Wy Plummer and I am the African American Ministries Coordinator for the Presbyterian Church in America. The ministry's chief aim is to facilitate the planting of new PCA churches led by African Americans throughout North America, as well as to encourage African Americans to prepare for leadership in the PCA and to assist them in funding their education. In the following few paragraphs, I want to share with you the mission God has given me for this ministry as well as some of the ways that, by His grace, we will carry it out.

Vision:

• To see increasing numbers of people come to faith in Jesus Christ.
• To see churches planted that preach, teach and equip people t understand and apply the doctrines of grace.
• To see a modern day reformation and revival of faith and hope in the African American community that impacts culture at all levels.

Why the PCA Seeks a Stronger African American Presence
Through the evangelistic efforts of our churches, the PCA is committed to reaching the multitudes for Jesus Christ and enfolding people of every ethnic group in a desire to more clearly reflect the passage in Revelation, "a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb." African Americans are a key segment of this great multitude, yet they are not well represented in the PCA. Of the more than 3500 PCA pastors, only a minimal percentage are African American. MNA African American Ministries intends to bring in many more and to facilitate their work in planting a steadily increasing number of PCA churches with the ultimate goal of changing lives, reviving communities, and transforming the culture.

Biographical Sketch
My wife Shirley and I have been in the PCA since 1982, and I was ordained as a PCA pastor in 1995. In addition to my position as MNA African American Ministries Coordinator, I also serve part-time pastor at New City Fellowship, Chattanooga TN, and am a member of the Advisory Board of Covenant Theological Seminary. I earned my undergraduate degree from Howard University and graduate degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Chesapeake Reformed Theological Seminary.

Goals:

• To develop "farm systems" from which to recruit pastors, church planters and ministry leaders.
• To increase the numbers of African Americans at theologically reformed seminaries.
• To create internships and apprenticeships at reformed churches.
• To plant churches and develop ministries that share our vision.
• To raise funds to assist in leadership development, theological education and church planter training.
