Parakaleo: Watching God Show Up to Support Church Planting
“’I went to a training retreat and God showed up in a big way!” said one attendee of a Parakaleo event. “The wife of a church planter needs support, direction and care. She is a crucial piece in the growing of a church.”
Twenty women had this rich opportunity to experience God’s grace in a fresh way at Parakaleo’s recent Leadership Training retreat in Florida. Many of these women already lead local network groups for church planting spouses across the country and abroad. Cities represented include Chicago, Raleigh, Nashville, Atlanta, Singapore, Seattle, New York, Lakeland (FL) and Asheville.
Multiple research studies indicate the importance of the church planting family, as was recently reported in a ByFaith article on resilient ministry (http://byfaithonline.com/resilient-ministry/). Church planters are also grateful for the training and support their wives receive from Parakaleo.
“My wife returned home from your training event extremely motivated, with a different understanding of her call and a greater hope in Christ about who she is and what she is doing,” wrote one church planter. “I want to encourage you to continue developing this ministry, because it is key to church planting.”
Parakaleo’s ministry is continuing to expand as it comes alongside church planting spouses with training, resources, one-on-one coaching, and local networks. The ministry has launched a five-year fundraising effort, Vision 2018, to train more women, establish new network groups, and develop materials. Please pray that the Lord of the Harvest would continue to use Parakaleo to support church planting spouses and build his church.
Parakaleo’s next Basic Training events for church planting spouses will be held in Orlando, Jan 17-20, 2014 and in Lake Tahoe April 28-May 3, 2014. Check out our website for more details: www.parakelo.us/retreats.
