Helping without Hurting: The Next Step

The Chalmers Center is seeking churches and ministries to host a full day of training on poverty alleviation in their city. The training will focus on the core principles of the top-selling book When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty without Hurting the Poor and Yourself written by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert of the Chalmers Center.  It will introduce gospel-driven, church-centered economic development strategies appropriate for both North America and the Majority World, orienting a city’s entire "ministry system" (churches, ministries, and financial partners) around a common philosophy and approach for ministry to poor people.  Also the training will equip practitioners to take the first steps in Asset Based Development. If you would like to host this seminar for your city, access the Host Frequently Asked Questions document which includes a link to the host application.
