Are you interested in helping the financially poor in your community? Let the Chalmers Center for Economic Development show you how Individual Development Accounts (IDA) can help! IDAs are matched savings accounts that allow economically poor households to build an asset base. This financial ministry tends to have deep impact by coupling the tools of asset accumulation with financial literacy training and counseling. The church is in a unique position to implement IDA programs while simultaneously developing lasting relationships with participants and their families. The goal of the Chalmers Center’s IDA initiative is to walk with small ministries and churches by providing practitioner-driven learning and support as they start IDA programs. If your church or ministry is interested, visit our website at www.chalmers.org/ida_pgm/ida.php then contact Lance Wescher at 706-419-1803 or via e-mail at lance.wescher@covenant.edu.

There are many ways to reach out to a community, usually only limited by our imagination and faith; and only to some degree by our resources. One person with faith and an idea can still be used by God to be a light and a witness to a community, and be used by God to draw people into a congregation. Resources do limit us, but they do not hinder us in trying something, or some things, at some times. If there is a will to reach out to the community within a congregation there will be some resources available, and maybe more than you hoped or knew. Click here to read more.
