Overview of Position
The Associate Diaconate Director works closely with the Diaconate Director. This position provides supervision and back up support to the Deacons and Deaconesses in their client work as well as resource development, training, emergency and administrative support to the Diaconate Director and the ministry.
Job Duties
- Assist Director in overseeing recruiting, nominations, training schedule, visibility and communication, special offering, Diaconate retreat, and other special projects.
- Assist Deacons/esses in emergency client situations and intervene as needed.
- Track and supervise client work of Diaconate members.
- Assist Director to organize and plan bi-annual Officer Nominee Skills Training.
- Build, update and maintain Diaconate resource files.
- At least two years of experience in Social Work Administration, management, and clinical/caseworker experience.
- Strong heart for Mercy Ministry.
- Advanced degree in Social Work is desired. Bachelor degree is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a Redeemer Member or in the process of becoming a Member.

Strategies for Community Ministry
There are many ways to reach out to a community, usually only limited by our imagination and faith; and only to some degree by our resources. One person with faith and an idea can still be used by God to be a light and a witness to a community, and be used by God to draw people into a congregation. Resources do limit us, but they do not hinder us in trying something, or some things, at some times.
