African American Ministries and New City Network Leadership Retreat

October 30-November 1, 2017
Ridge Haven
215 Ridge Haven Road
Brevard, NC 28712

This retreat will offer our network pastors, leaders, and spouses an opportunity to rest, relax, and reconnect. This year we are excited to have Dr. Christina Edmondson as our retreat facilitator who will help use explore the topic of intercultural competence. We will be using the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a well-tested instrument for measuring intercultural development and competence.

Dr. Edmonson comes fully qualified to facilitate our retreat. She serves as the Dean for Intercultural Student Development at Calvin College. In addition, she is a Certified Cultural Intelligence facilitator, public speaker, and mental health therapist. Christina is often contacted by churches to consult about both diversity and mental health issues. Her writing has been seen and referenced in a variety of outlets including,, and Gospel Today magazine. She is married to Pastor Mika Edmondson of New City Fellowship Church (OPC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the mother of two wonderful little girls.

If you are planting a cross cultural church or have a strong interest in reaching people from other cultures this is the retreat for you. Using the IDI (an on-line inventory), your intercultural competence and ability to cross into other cultures will be measured. The retreat will endeavor to help in your mission to understand and reach people from outside your own culture.

Because of the generosity of Ridge Haven, we can offer the retreat at a cost of $110 per person and $200 per couple. The fee will cover food and lodging for the three days/two-night retreat.

Due to space requirements, we are limiting the number of participants at this year’s retreat. Please register as soon as possible  to guarantee your spot and to help us administer the IDI before the retreat.  Registration closed on October 13th. If you have questions please contact Wy Plummer at
