Head, Heart, and Hands: Organizing to Participate in Disaster Response
Mission to North America (MNA) Disaster Response will be hosting a five session intensive introduction to the vision and mission of MNA Disaster Response. Through these sessions attendees will gain an understanding of the structure, organization, and capabilities of the connectional network of MNA Disaster Response. Dr. J. Ligon Duncan will open the Friday evening session by highlighting the biblical and spiritual presuppositions of a response. He will also provide the opening devotional Saturday morning. Attendees will receive instruction from MNA’s Regional Specialists regarding practical ways to organize at the local church and presbytery levels. As part of a strategic partnership with Reformed Theological Seminary, counseling faculty will provide a psychological first aid component which seeks to mitigate trauma experienced by both victims and relief workers. This regional workshop will be hosted at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Montgomery, AL and will take place Friday, October 16 (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, October 17 (8:30am-12 noon).
