Major Flooding in Wake of Hurricane Florence

Hurricane Florence dropped unprecedented amounts of rain in many places in NC and SC. The water is moving downstream and will not crest in many places until much later this week. Many trees are down and many homes are flooded. Several PCA churches have likely been flooded as well. Many roadways are still impassable but MNA Disaster Response has already begun to move in needed equipment as close as possible to the areas of greatest impact so that when the roads open up we can get in as quickly as possible. MNA Disaster Response is also working to determine the best strategic host sites.

For now, please do the following to support your denominational relief efforts:

  1. Pray for relief from the storm and for those being rescued and affected by this storm.
  2. Give generously. Click here to support efforts financially. Funds will be used for assessment, mobilization, relief grants for flooded PCA families and churches, to help meet insurance deductibles, to purchase needed supplies and equipment, to construct Sheds of Hope, and to setup and operate flood recovery sites. To mail your gift, make your check out to ‘MNA Disaster Response’ and mark ‘For Hurricane Florence Relief’ and mail to:  Mission to North America, P. O. Box 890233, Charlotte NC  28289-0233.
(Please know that MNA does not charge any fees for services so 100% of all donations to a designated event go to meet the needs presented by that event.)
  3. Send relief supplies & equipment. For a list of needed supplies click here.
  4. Prepare to GO. Click here to register your intent to serve.

PUERTO RICO – Scheduling Volunteers for 2019 Now!

The work of rebuilding in Puerto Rico in response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria continues. The needs are still great with some areas of the island still without power. The local PCA pastors and leadership are requesting volunteer teams to come and assist with a specific, targeted area. They have also set up a strong volunteer staging site to house volunteers who come to assist the in their work. Click here for more information about the specific project they are working on, the La Hormiga Project.

If you are interested in serving, please contact Sherry Lanier at slanier@pcanet.org for more information.
