Here are some updates on what is happening on the ground in the work of MNA Disaster Response in helping meet the incredible needs left in the wake of Hurricane Helene. From day one we have been sending in supplies (including flood buckets, hygiene kits, and bedding kits) and big equipment to help move trees and debris. We currently have volunteers working in TN, GA, and NC; the work is primarily chainsaw and debris removal along with muck-out work of flooded churches and homes. We have a Volunteer Staging Site currently set up in Arden NC and are now mobilizing outside volunteers to serve at this site. We anticipate serving at this site for at least a year or longer. If you would like to serve please see the links below!
In TN we are now constructing Sheds of Hope. The initial construction of 35 sheds is well underway and we anticipate building many more. Please see the video below about a few of the sheds recently built in TN. Additionally, plans are underway to duplicate this Sheds of Hope project in NC, too!
The two pictures below are of folks we have built sheds for. The couple in the picture are Gator Bait (the lady) and Catfish (the gentleman); their home, vehicles and workshop washed completely away in the storm not even leaving any trace at all. If you look closely in the video you will see the camper they are living in next to their new shed. The other picture is of a new shed owner along with Kathryn Hooten, Arklie’s wife as they celebrate this amazing provision.
We also wanted to give you a snapshot of what is done with the financial provisions you are sending. Funds are being used to transport mission critical supplies and equipment to impact areas and recovery sites, to operate recovery sites, to purchase, deploy, and maintain equipment, to assist with meeting insurance deductibles, to assist severely impacted congregations to meet payroll and budget commitments, to purchase rebuilding materials, to replace relief kits such as flood buckets, hygiene kits, bedding kits, back-to-school kits, Sheds of HOPE kits already transported into these areas, to purchase fuel for generators, skid steer loaders and MNADR heavy-duty trucks, etc. Please prayerfully consider giving generously. Please know that disaster response is expensive to undertake but vital. Every penny of every dollar donated to a designated disaster event goes to help meet the needs presented by these disasters. MNA nor MNA Disaster Response withholds any fees for any services.
